The share of nuclear in the global energy mix is continuously growing in the world. This has led to development of new, innovative Nuclear reactor ideas and an ever increasing number of reactors worldwide. With such a growing demand of nuclear energy, the requirement of performing safety analysis of Nuclear reactor core has also increased. Before a nuclear reactor is commissioned, its safety is ensured by performing detailed pin-by-pin analysis of the core neutronics. This is necessary for assessing the core lifetime and the parameters that are important to keep the reactor in a safe operation. These parameters include excess reactivity, enough shutdown margin, delayed neutron fraction, power peaking factors, neutron flux and power, extent of fission product poisoning etc. This detailed analysis is performed using various simulation softwares, either with deterministic technique or probabilistic technique. These include WIMS, CITATION, openmc etc. Keeping in view the critical importance of such an analysis, Reactor Core Neutronics Group (RCNG) has been established under the banner of Department of Nuclear Engineering (DNE), where faculty members and researchers may study different reactors and hence perform the neutronics analysis. The main objectives of RCNG are:
